Well, as you guessed, I didn't wake up before work to do my cardio. Am I mad at myself? No. I have to be honest with myself. I believe that as long as the work gets done then why does it matter when you do it? It doesn't. So don't kick yourself if you press the snooze button too many times or completely sleep through your alarm, just make up for it later.
Now tomorrow is a different story... I have to get up early and do cardio or do it during my lunch break. I work from 8-4:30 and have lessons from 6-9. Joyous! But it will get done.
Food:
Breakfast: thin sandwich rounds with minimum peanut butter and bananas on top
Lunch: Tuna with mustard and pickles
Mid afternoon snack: almonds
Dinner/post-workout: Protein shake

Overhead triceps: 15lbs 3 sets of 12

first day of the rest of my life.
Well today has come and gone and you better bet your sweet ass I ate right and went to the gym. Even in this frigid weather. Did I want to stay at home and cuddle up in my bed? Yes, but I can always do that later. In order to hold myself accountable, I will be mainly be using this blog to keep record of my daily meals and workouts. I can't promise you I won't get off topic and vent a little here or there...
Food:
Breakfast: Two thin sandwich rounds with minimum peanut butter and blueberries on top.
Mid morning snack: Greek yogurt.
Lunch: Spinach and cucumbers with lite raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
Mid afternoon snack: Sweet and salty nut mix.
Dinner/post-workout: Protein shake.
Workout: (lift/leg day)
Leg Extensions 90lbs 3 sets of 12
Seated Leg Curls 70lbs 3 sets of 12
Seated Leg Press 170lbs 3 sets of 12
Leg Kick Backs 70lbs 3 sets of 12
Cardio: Elliptical Level 10 15 minutes.
Now for the good stuff to really see how many body changes. For the first time I actually measured myself. Measurements don't lie. I'm a little embarrassed about some of them but embarrassment is a good motivator! Believe me.. Here goes nothing.
Starting weight: 158 lbs
Biceps: 12 inches
Chest: 40 inches
Waist: 35.5 inches
Hips: 39.5 inches
Quads: 20.5 inches
Tomorrow, I plan on waking up before work and knocking my cardio out of the way early. Let me rephrase that, tomorrow I will wake up before work and knock my cardio out early!! Probably throw in a little abs. Then back to the gym after work! Can't wait.

famous last words.
A true procrastinators last words are, "I'll do it tomorrow." Well, I will be the first to admit that I am a very good procrastinator; however, I WILL DO IT TOMORROW. Mark my word.
Since the new year, I have decided to live a much healthier lifestyle. January- no fast food; February- no beer.... and it was all down hill from there. I've let myself slack and I'm not proud of it one bit. Over the past few months I have dedicated numerous hours in a squat rack, on a weight machine, treadmill, and yoga mat. Yes, I said yoga mat. Even though I've seen some change in my body and the way I feel, it's still not good enough for me. I can do better and I will do better.
With a family history of heart disease, obesity and diabetes, I should have started this healthier lifestyle earlier. Coulda, woulda, shoulda... I can't control my genetics, but I can control what I put into my body and be sure I don't fuel the fire. I've always been very athletic. Softball was my life, even played in college. Three days a week were spent in the weight room and the other two, conditioning. I didn't find it necessary to watch what I ate. Little did I know, having a banging body and healthy heart starts in the kitchen and is continued in the gym. It's never too late to make a change, right?!
The biggest challenge I face is not seeing results right away. In my perfect world, I should go to sleep, dream about doing some workouts and wake up with a six pack. That is how my mind works. This lifestyle change has definitely taught me patience. It has also taught me that my "off day" results into two off days. That a cheat meal turns into two cheat meals. I'll be the first to tell you that one meal won't make you fat, just like one meal won't make you skinny, but when the meals start to add up... you find yourself starting over again.
There isn't a magic pill to take or a certain amount of water to drink to shed the pounds away. This I have struggled with. The biggest motivation is pictures. Pictures don't lie. If you don't like how you look in pictures, then change it.
Tomorrow, I will have gone one week without a Diet Coke or Coke Zero. For me, this is a big deal. I live a very busy life and always on the go. Quick meals always seem easiest; however, tomorrow that will change, for good.
Tomorrow, I'm changing the way I look in pictures, the way my pants fits, the way I look in a bathing suit, the way I feel in my own skin.
Tomorrow will become today. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life.
This is my journey. From ex-athlete to lean-mean-training-machine....
